Harav Shlomo Yosef Zevin was the author of HaMoadim b’Halacha - The Festivals in Halacha. His tremendous work was translated into English and published by Artscroll.
Unfortunately the English version of his work left out a very key section of the Hebrew version related to the establishment of the State of Israel.

כתבו הפוסקים: חורבנן של ערי יהודה הוא, שעכו”ם מושלים עליהן. (בית יוסף, ב”ח ,ט”ז ומגן-אברהם שם). מסתבר, שעם שיחרורן של ערי יהודה משלטון נכרים והקמת מדינת ישראל (אשרינו שזכינו לכך!) בטל דין הקריעה על אותן הערים.
